What is a BBL photofacial?

A BBL photofacial is a light treatment that fades sun spots, freckles, redness and small visible veins for clearer, more even skin. We use the Sciton BBL HERO for BBL photofacials in Vero Beach, Sciton's version of intense pulsed light (IPL), on the face and every body area.
Gentle pulses of filtered light are absorbed by brown pigment and tiny red vessels: the pigment rises and flakes off, and the vessels fade. Many patients also notice smoother, brighter skin over time.
Who BBL is for
BBL suits adults with sun damage, brown spots, freckles or redness on the face, neck, chest, hands, arms or legs. It treats lighter skin types (Fitzpatrick I–III) and is a natural fit for Treasure Coast skin that sees year-round sun.
It can't be done on tanned skin, over tattoos or open wounds, or on skin type IV or darker, where MOXI is the better fit. Avoid tanning for 14 days before and after. Tell us about Accutane in the last 6 months, light-sensitizing medications, pregnancy or cold sores.
How a BBL photofacial is done
After a cool gel and protective eyewear, quick pulses of light pass over the skin, each feeling like a warm rubber-band snap with no numbing. A visit takes about 30–45 minutes, and the light itself only a few minutes.
Treatments are spaced every 4–6 weeks, then most people keep results with 2–3 maintenance treatments a year.

What BBL treats
Sun spots + age spots
Freckles
Redness
Broken capillaries
Uneven tone + texture
Chest, hands + arms
A BBL photofacial in Vero Beach fades sun and age spots, freckles, broken capillaries and the redness associated with rosacea, and evens out tone and texture. It treats the chest, hands and arms and every other body area too. BBL is a light-based treatment, not a cure for rosacea, so your provider checks your skin type and medications first.

BBL photofacial questions
How much does a BBL photofacial cost in Vero Beach?
A BBL photofacial at Vero Beach Medical Spa is $450 per session. BBL on the body starts at $750 per area, and a same-day BBL + MOXI combo is $1,000 per area. Aesthetics Members save 20% and get one BBL treatment a year included.
What's the difference between BBL and IPL?
BBL is Sciton's version of intense pulsed light (IPL). Both use filtered broadband light to treat pigment and redness; BBL gives the provider fine control over the light filters and settings.
How many BBL treatments will I need, and is there downtime?
Treatments are spaced every 4–6 weeks, then 2–3 maintenance treatments a year keep results. Downtime is very little: skin can be pink for a few hours, sun spots darken and flake off over 1–2 weeks, and results show at about 2–3 weeks. Most people book their series during laser season (October to April), when it's easier to stay out of strong sun before and after treatment.
Can BBL treat rosacea, and is it safe for all skin types?
BBL can reduce the redness and visible vessels associated with rosacea, but it doesn't cure rosacea, so most people need maintenance. It treats skin types I–III, but not tanned skin, tattoos or open wounds, which is why we plan around the Florida sun; for skin type IV or darker, MOXI (which works on all skin types) is the better fit, and we'll recommend the safest option at your consult.
How do I get rid of sun spots on my face?
Daily SPF stops new ones forming; for existing spots, light-based treatments like BBL are one of the most effective options. Your provider checks every spot first, and anything unusual is referred for evaluation.
How do I prepare, and what about aftercare?
Before: no tanning, sunburn or self-tanner for at least 14 days, stop retinoids and exfoliating acids for several days (we'll tell you when), and come with clean skin, no makeup. After: expect mild redness for a few hours and spots that look like coffee grounds before they flake off (don't pick them); wear SPF 30+ daily with no tanning or direct sun for 14 days, skip scrubs, exfoliants, hot water, chlorinated pools and strenuous exercise while healing, use a gentle cleanser and moisturizer, wait on makeup until your provider says it's fine, and call (772) 907-5848 if you notice blistering or anything unusual.
